Capitalist remains a clear $1.55 favourite in 2016 Missile Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Rebel Dane ($3.90) and Big Money ($10).

Will Capitalist justify favouritism and win the 2016 Missile Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals post a big upset?

Rebel Dane ($3.90)

Group 1 winner Rebel Dane is a proven first-up performer, at the course and distance and will relish the likely-to-be heavy conditions at Randwick for the running of the Missile Stakes. Claiming a career total of seven wins and as many minors through thirty-one competitive starts, the California Dane entire returned this year for third in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m); progressing to fifth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) and fourth in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m). While failing to fire in his next two starts, Rebel Dane ran fourth in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) most recently on April 16th and has trialled well leading into the Missile Stakes.

Capitalist ($1.55)

Capitalist is yet to make an appearance on a track that is anything less than a ‘good’ rating, but if he takes his position in the Missile Stakes field his class is sure to count for plenty. Taking out each of his first three starts upon debuting to racing late last year, culminating in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas (1200m) on January 9th, the Written Tycoon colt clearly required a run when second in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) first-up in March, but responded with an impressive win in the featured Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) last time out on March 19th.

Tycoon Tara ($31)

Tycoon Tara is a rank outsider in 2016 Missile Stakes betting markets, but the talented mare should relish the conditions of the race and has trialled well in the lead-up to what will be her first preparation for Peter & Paul Snowden. A multiple stakes winner, Tycoon Tara could very well receive the run of the race from barrier 6 and will be partnered by leading and in-form hoop Blake Shinn.
